The rules
The DMCC Act adds a subscription contracts regime, expected January 2027 and subject to implementing regulations. It covers clear information before sign-up, reminders before a renewal or before a free or discounted period ends, and a straightforward way to leave. The pricing rules on the total price, paid extras and banned practices have applied since April 2025. Recheck after every release.
It is expected to cover contracts entered into after commencement. Current pricing rules still apply. Your advisers confirm the scope.
A baseline gives your team a backlog now. Rechecks track later releases as implementing rules and guidance develop.
What your team can do now
With the flow most customers use, usually sign-up, then cancellation. Walk it as a new customer on mobile and desktop, save every screen, and note where the price, the commitment and the way out appear.
Three things: is the ongoing price next to the sign-up button, does a reminder arrive before a trial or renewal is charged, and can a customer leave without detours? The UK checklist lists the questions for each step.
